Studies have shown that through the release of oxytocin, Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) alleviates depression, pain, social isolation and loneliness and the behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
AAT also improves motor, social and communication skills. This has been true in my experience. Blossom once provoked a non-verbal person to speak and say “I love her”. This is a moment I will remember forever.
Meet Blossom
the ‘optional extra’.
Hello, I am Blossom, I’m a six year old, deaf Border Collie who is also a qualified Delta therapy dog. I have three years experience being a calm, goofy and gentle girl visiting people in their homes, including various nursing homes. I also accompany people out and about in the community with Lauren.
I am well groomed, fully vaccinated (C7) and take monthly Nexguard Spectra.
In my spare time I love playing ‘keepy-uppy’ with balloons and enjoying the wind on my face from the back seat of the car.
